Our Vision & Philosophy
Educational Special Needs Services (ESNS), a not-for-profit corporation, was developed to help assure quality education for all children. Our multi-disciplinary team has a program that provides families and school personnel with guidance and support for students with special needs. We care for the whole child, addressing needs in the academic, attendance, behavioral, health, and social areas.
ESNS is committed to working with parents and schools to identify and remediate special needs that may prevent students from receiving the full benefit of their education. This is not an attempt to label students, but rather to heighten the awareness of those adults who have direct responsibility for the students and their individual needs.
ESNS will work to build comprehensive, continuing, and consistent partnerships between school and home in order to meet these goals. ESNS will facilitate the diagnostic and intervention process and aid the teaching staff in coordinating a comprehensive, customized plan for students who are unable to function successfully in the traditional classroom.
Non-Profit vs. For Profit
ESNS made the choice to become a non-profit corporation, knowing that it would be an arduous and lengthy process. We made this choice because we knew that the parents of children with special needs, especially those who choose to enroll their students in non-governmental schools, often face overwhelming financial burdens. Therapy for learning disabilities and tutoring for academic needs can be expensive and are rarely covered by any type of insurance. As a not-for-profit, we can seek and accept donations from many sources and in turn, we can use these to help children with special needs. Our desire is that all children will receive the guidance and support they need in order to be successful in school.

SLIDING SCALE FEES & SCHOLASHIP ASSISTANCE
Our desire is that clients are not deterred from receiving services due to financial constraints. We offer Sliding Scale Fees as well as Scholarships for Extenuating Circumstances. Please see the Scholarship Request form on our Service Overview page for detailed information. Due to the generous donation of one of our supporters, we also offer an annual Fleming Scholarship to a student with significant educational needs for whom support services are crucial and have had a noteworthy positive impact. Any service provider can make a recommendation to the Board who makes the final decision on the award. The Fleming Scholarship is applied to the monthly balance due for services rendered after the sliding scale discount has been credited. The total Fleming Scholarship applied in any one month may not exceed the lesser of 50% of the balance due or $100.00 (maximum $1000.00 per year).

How You Can
Support ESNS
GoodShop.com & GoodSearch.com
ESNS added these wonderful new fundraising programs in 2009. They require no additional work or sharing of personal information on the part of the supporter and 100% of funds raised are used for scholarship assistance. Simply use either portal – GoodSearch.com as your search engine and GoodShop.com when you shop online at over 700 stores. Type ‘Educational Special Needs Services’ in the box as the charity you are supporting, click verify and then proceed to search or shop. Stores are listed alphabetically or by category, so it is quick and easy!
Ink Jet, Toner Cartridge and Cell Phone Recycling
This program has been very successful and once again, 100% of the funds raised are used for scholarship assistance. ESNS has several companies for recycling and receives a small amount for each qualifying item. Drop off sites are the office at Desert Christian Middle School, Pantano Baptist Church (Broadway and Pantano) or our office. We are also happy to pick up donations if collected at individual places of business.
